The demand for private aviation has been positive according to Carlos Martínez Ábrego, deputy general director of Grupo Motomex, who mentioned that the pandemic boosted this sector and they currently have frequent clients who prefer to pay for flight hours. In the agricultural area, Grupo Motomex has ventured with its Agroequipos division, distributing Mahindra tractors. Despite the good acceptance of the business, Martínez Ábrego ruled out the possibility of opening a plant in Mexico due to the small size of the agricultural tractor market in the country.
"Today we have large tractor manufacturers that produce in other parts of the world, and we do not see a factory here as viable in the short term," said Martínez Ábrego. In real estate, the company is looking to take advantage of the demand for industrial spaces driven by nearshoring. Therefore, Grupo Motomex is developing a warehouse project in the San Luis Potosí Industrial Park, totaling 15,000 square meters.
The construction of the warehouses has already been underway for four months, and the project is focused on storage, as Martínez Ábrego explained. During the pandemic, the company saw business opportunities in financing, agriculture, and air transport segments. They noticed that people, fearing contagion, preferred private air services, which led them to acquire a Cessna Citation CJ3 Plus aircraft and a helicopter in 2020 to offer private air transport services.
